Cosy Movies to Watch This Fall
For today’s Blogtober challenge I thought I’d write about all the cosy movies to watch this fall. Autumn has a wonderful vibe and it’s like we’re suddenly presented with crunchy leaves, chilly nights and the smell of bonfires on the air. What better way to spend chilly evenings than wrapped up in layers of blankets on the sofa, candles on, cup of hot tea and some tasty treats ready to watch a movie?!
So here’s my list of the ultimate cosy movies to watch this fall…
Cosy Movies to Watch This Fall
Dead Poet’s Society
This is a classic, and it never fails to make me cry. Pop some popcorn, cosy up on the sofa and watch this classic Robin Williams movie, I dare you not to cry!
Practical Magic
This is my all time favourite witchy movie, and it’s perfect for Autumn. After all, there’s a little witch in all of us…
When Harry Met Sally
Hilarious, heart-warming and incredibly romantic. What’s not to love about this classic rom-com?
Mona Lisa Smile
A thoughtful and autumnal movie, perfect for cosy nights in front of the fire.
The Craft
Who doesn’t love this movie?! And yes, I’m talking about the original. Dark witchy magic and lots of cheesy special effects makes this movie perfection for fall.
Labyrinth
If you’re not watching Bowie in his tight trousers all year round, then fall is the perfect time to settle down and dance along to You Remind Me of the Babe!
Worzel Gummidge
This is a tv show with Mackenzie Crook, but wow it’s fall through and through. And with music from The Unthanks, you’re in for a real cosy treat.
You’ve Got Mail
I mean, what can I say? This is the most gorgeous film with the perfect cast, and a dog too! Watch it immediately, k?
Little Women
Whichever version you choose (Greta Gerwig, obvs), you’ll feel all the feels settling down to watch this one. Just make sure you have tissues to hand!
Stepmom
You’ll need a several boxes of tissues for this one. Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon, the dream team. This film is beautiful and perfect for fall.
Baby Boom
I LOVE this movie and it gives cottage-core jam making life of dreams vibes and I’m here for it! Are you?!
Kiki’s Delivery Service
This is such a gorgeous heartwarming family movie. I love the warmth of Studio Ghibli movies, and you could also add Howl’s Moving Castle and Princess Monoke to the mix – bliss!
The Witches of Eastwick
I used to watch this all the time with my mom and it totally put me off cherries. However, it is wickedly funny and full of a mix of humorous and darker moments. Plus, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer AND Cher?! Heaven.
The Lakehouse
This movie is simply gorgeous. If you’re after a beautiful romance, this is the movie for you.

Hubie Halloween
My son is obsessed with this movie! It’s cheesy, silly, but perfect for fall. Brace yourself for the werewolf basement!
Fantastic Mr Fox
A stunning movie with lots of quirks. I love this adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic, and George Clooney as the voice of Mr Fox doesn’t disappoint.
Coco
I cry my heart out every time I watch this movie. It holds so much heart and the musical parts are magical. Plus, Frida Kahlo. Need I say more?!
Good Will Hunting
This holds all the fall vibes and once again, we get to see the most beautiful Robin Williams do his thing. What a human. I miss him.
The Age of Adaline
I adore Blake Lively in this movie. It’s a stunning take on a woman’s journey who cannot age and my heart breaks for so many reasons during this film. It’s gorgeous.
Casper
Fun, silly, and very sweet. Casper is a classic for fall.
Hocus Pocus
The most perfect fall movie. Musicals have my heart and Bette Middler is the best. No arguments, okay?! Also, did you know Leonardo Dicaprio nearly nabbed the lead?! Imagine…
Beetlejuice
The ghost with the most is ALWAYS going to be the movie of the season, even when the hype for the sequel dies down. We watch this regularly but especially during the fall months. So pull up a chair and join us…
Working Girl
An 80s classic I could watch over and over again. I feel like girl power started here!
Death Becomes Her
An absolute classic with a witty script and incredible chemistry between Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep. This will see you into Halloween with a bang!
Donnie Darko
Oof this movie… I love this for the darker storyline woven in with fate and the unnerving feeling the whole movie offers.
Jennifer’s Body
This is an absolutely underrated movie. This story is dark, witty and unnerving. Megan Fox is fantastic and I hope there’s a secret cult I can join to celebrate just how brilliant this film is.
Sleepy Hollow
Another Christina Ricci film, this time a creepier, jumpier and darker movie. I love the misty shots and the build up to seeing the headless horseman – perfection!
To all the Boys I’ve Loved Before
My daughter and I love these movies. They’re warm and full of young love, perfect for autumn evenings by the fire.
Love at First Sight
This is an absolutely gorgeous movie and it’s full of so much heart. Definitely one for you romantics!
I hope this list is helpful and you find some gems of your own to watch. Watching movies in fall is one of the most cosy feelings you can experience, so crack out the popcorn, snuggle under a blanket and enjoy!
