Hello, Autumn! How to Embrace the Change of Season…

Autumn is here and temperatures are dropping, so it’s time to settle into the season. Autumn is my favourite time of year, but I have S.A.D (Seasonal Affective Disorder) so it’s really important for me to find the cosy joyful moments of the darker months.

So let’s deep dive into how we can welcome Autumn and all the joy she brings…

Hello, Autumn! How to Embrace the Change of Season…

Here are some things I’m planning to do to make the most of this beautiful season:

Wreath Making

Making a wreath from scratch can be such a rewarding experience. You can choose between buying faux items or collecting pieces on nature walks and creating a bespoke wreath. Your front door will lighten up your day whenever you cross your threshold!

Hot Chocolate

Having a hot chocolate is one of the most soul fueling things you can do. It’s even better if you make a ritual out of it – cream, marshmallows, biscuits, candlelight. Take your time, use milk, make it special because you deserve it!

Crunchy Leaves

Nature walks are so good for the soul. But they’re even better when you get to crunch your feet along streams of burnt red and brown leaves. Take a trip to your local park and crunch away, it’s a lovely feeling!

Pumpkin Crafts

Pumpkins are not just for Halloween! You can carve, paint, decorate them anytime during Autumn and it’s a great way to honour the season. Crafting is also a really mindful process, so it’s a great way to give yourself some self-care time.

Get Cosy

Start piling up those soft blankets, lighting candles, popping fairy lights around your home. Get yourself some cosy socks, make soup and cheese toasties, drink as much tea as your belly will allow, ready wholesome books and watch your favourite comfort shows and movies. Lean into the darker nights and embrace layers, warmth and dimly lit rooms.

Stop and Look

Take a moment of each day to stop and look around you. The floor to the sky is full of so much wonder. From crunchy leaves to unreal skies, there’s so much to see if you really look. I could spend hours staring at the clouds, there’s something so soothing about it Bonus points if you can get to the beach!
