16 Pumpkin Activities

When you think of the month of October, you think of pumpkins, right?! Pumpkins are the cutest thing in the whole world so I thought I’d share all the activities to do with pumpkins so you can make the most of pumpkin month. There are so many things you can do with them, so let’s get started…

16 Pumpkin Activities

1. Baking and Cooking Pumpkins

Baking and cooking with pumpkins is a great way to use the cutest fruit ever known to humankind. You could create your own puree or buy the cans and make pumpkin cookies or use them in a curry with chickpeas. There are endless uses to pumpkin puree so get stuck in this fall season.

2. Carving and Creating Pumpkins

The most popular use of pumpkins is carving and creating gruesome or interesting things to use as a tealight holder and give your home a spooky glow! I always keep it simple but I am a sensory seeker so I love scooping out the guts of the pumpkin, I leave the carving to everyone else…

3. Make a Bird Feeder with a Pumpkin

Chop your pumpkin in half, scoop out the stringy stuff, add in some seeds and create a hanging ‘basket’ with some string. Once you’ve done this, hang it up in the garden and wait for the birds!

4. Paint a Pumpkin

Painting a pumpkin can offer a stylistic vibe to your Halloween decor. You could drip paint them or spray them or even create images or patterns with acrylic paint. The possibilities are endless and you could always carve them closer to Halloween night if you wanted to.

5. Glitter Pumpkins

Adding glitter to a pumpkin is definitely something I want to try this year. I love the idea of a semi-organic glitter ball, sitting on my windowsill and lighting up my room, it sounds like a lush vibe!

6. Toast & Eat Pumpkin Seeds

Toasting and eating pumpkin seeds is a fun thing to do. You can add different flavours too, from plain to salted, or cinnamon or chilli, the options are endless.

7. Make Pumpkin Slime

Creating pumpkin slime is a great way to have some sensory fall fun. Check out this slime recipe from Eating Richly for how to.

8. Washi Taped Pumpkin

Use washi tape to decorate your pumpkin and create a unique design that won’t make the pumpkin rot. Pretty lines of tape can create beautiful images on the front of a nice rounded pumpkin.

9. Spider Pumpkin

Get some fake spiders and a hot glue gun and cover your pumpkin with spiders!

10. Quote Pumpkins

How about adding a creepy quote to the pumpkin with acrylic paint? Even ‘Happy Halloween’ would look cute on the front of one.

11. Decoupage Pumpkins

I love decoupage and I imagine there are so many great prints to use on a pumpkin. I quite like the idea of making one leopard print all over, but you could also use Halloween inspired prints or anything else you fancy.

12. Bloody Pumpkins

Get some fake blood or acrylic paint and make it the perfect consistency, then drip it over the top of your pumpkin. You could also paint your pumpkin white first, but either way, this idea sounds gruesome and I love it.

13. Pumpkin Latte

Making pumpkin lattes, hot or iced, is the perfect way to celebrate the season. I love this drink so much and it’s definitely a go to in my home all year round.

14. Pompom Pumpkin

Get your glue and pompoms out and cover your pumpkin with pompoms. This is one for the adults and the kids, so see who can fit the most on their pumpkin in a cheeky little competition. You could make these multicoloured or go for one solid colour, or stripes or dots or anything you fancy.

15. Googly Eyed Pumpkin

Get some googly eyes and place them across the pumpkin to create a creepy pumpkin for All Hallow’s Eve.

16. Stencil Pumpkins

Using stencils as a way to create patterns on your pumpkins is a cute and neat way to decorate them for Halloween. If you can’t find a spooky image stencil then you can use anything, such as flowers painted black.

I hope these suggestions have been helpful, and I’d love to hear all about the pumpkin designs you create!

Thank you x
